With the Dutch footballer not willing to leave the club, president Joan Laporta has earmarked another player that could leave to help their struggling finances.

The transfer saga involving Frenkie de Jong has gone on for too long, and Barcelona may require extreme measures to balance their accounting sheets so they can add new players to their roster and they are also able to include them in their squad list as per La Liga's rulings.

Those "extreme measures" would require the Catalan club to part ways with one of their crucial players in recent seasons, even if he has been deemed as key by coach Xavi Hernández.

According to a report by Deportes Cuatro, president Joan Laporta is growing tired of Frenkie de Jong's stance regarding his contract and his possible exit to either Manchester United or Chelsea. With that in mind, the Blaugrana boss would be thinking about letting Marc-André Ter Stegen leave the club to help the club's financial problems while also giving way to add more players to the team's roster.

Ter Stegen is one of the best-paid players in the team, and given his reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, his transfer would put an end to all of Barcelona's woes. Nevertheless, the German shot-stopper will not make it easy for Barcelona to let him leave, and a potential tug of war could be coming for the Blaugrana side.

It is yet to be seen if the rumors are true, but all transfer sagas at Camp Nou must be sorted out before August 12, the day when La Liga is set to begin.
