About TVP2
TVP 2 is a Polish television channel owned and operated by Telewizja Polska, a media corporation from Poland that is mostly operated by the government of that country. It was launched on October 2, 1970, and it has been labeled as a general entertainment channel. It is the second most relevant channel for Telewizja Polska behind TVP 1. It was previously known as TP2 from 1976 to 1992, but it would be rebranded to TVP 2 since then.
Over the years, the channel has focused on airing different content than the one displayed by its sister channel, mainly airing documentaries, history shows, game shows, talk shows, comedy programs, shows about other cultures, sports, and standup comedy programs.
Speaking about sports, the channel has aired overflow content for disciplines covered by its siter channel, TVP 1. Some of those sports have included football and athletics competitions, with the UEFA Europa League, the FIFA World Cup, and the UEFA Euro being some of the tournaments aired on this channel over the years.
TVP 2 has aired its content in Standard Definition, but a separate HD feed was launched in June 2012 to help with the coverage of the 2012 UEFA Euro.
