Third time proved to be the charm for the USMNT as they finally defeated Ghana, 2-1 in the group stages.

Football fans were in for quite a entertaining day of World Cup action on Monday, with three fixtures--Germany vs. Portugal, Nigeria vs. Iran, and Ghana vs. USA set to take place.

And as per usual, there was plenty of twists and turns, notably Germany thrashing Portugal 4-0, a rather dull and surprising stalemate as Nigeria were held by Iran, and then, the United States finally defeating Ghana.

For the Stars and Stripes, this was the third time facing off against Ghana, and the last two times had ended in disappointment; hence it was no surprise that the team's supporters were celebrating the 2-1 result that finally ended Ghana's winning streak.

USMNT debutant John Brooks, who scored the team's winning goal was also given a shout-out:
