After seeing their goalkeeper, Pepe Reina, score an unfortunate injury time own goal to offer Arsenal a 1-1 draw on match-day one of the English Premier League, Liverpool have been quick to sign Middlesbrough Brad Jones.

Goalkeeper Brad JonesThe Australian shot-stopper is now on a three-year contract with the Merseyside Reds. It is believed that former Fulham boss Roy Hodgson is an admirer of Brad Jones. Middlesbrough accepted a fee of £2.4m from Liverpool to let Brad Jones land at Anfield.

Reports explain that the Aussie agreed personal terms and passed a medical earlier this week. Brad Jones’ role will be to serve as back-up to Pepe Reina.

He will replace Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri. The latter is just about to conclude a loan move to promoted club Cesena where he will feature in the Italian Seria A.

 

On Thursday night, Liverpool will play host to Trabzonspor as they continue their UEFA Europa League campaign. Lately, the Reds defeated Rabotnicki 4-0 on aggregate in the Third Qualifying Round as they booked tickets for this week’s play-off match against Trabzonspor.
