El Mini Tri will start their participation in the U-20 World Cup against Mali on May 31. Any points the Qatari side can collect in this tournament will count as a major victory, while the Colombians need to prove they have what it takes to continue dominating in the South American scene for years to come.
Portugal vs Senegal
The Portuguese side is still expecting one of its youth teams to eclipse their 1991 Golden Generation, which included players such as Luis Figo and Fernando Couto. Now, they arrive to this tournament holding the second place in the European qualifiers. If they want to change how people see them in the international arena, this could be their chance to do so.
Facing them, will be African runner up Senegal. The Lions of Teranga will base their hopes on Sidy Sarr's skills, who scored a key brace to qualify for the tournament. This game should be one of the best in the Group Stage, with two teams quite capable of hurting the other.
Uruguay vs Serbia
Two years ago, the Uruguayans shocked the almighty Spanish team and made it to the finals, just to be beaten after a penalty shootout by France. This time, the South Americans will try to repeat their performance and they will try to start their run against the powerful Serbian team that won the European qualifiers. These two teams should be considered as candidates to finish among the top four teams, but their chances of progression in the complicated Group C will be determined by the outcome of this game.
