UEFA Champions League titleholders Inter Milan commence the defense of their title with a tricky match away to FC Twente.
How will life in Europe be with Rafael Benitez but without treble winner Jose Mourinho? Dejan Stankovic seems to think that time will tell…

The last time Inter Milan played a match in Europe, they got defeated 2-0 against ‘underdogs’ Atletico Madrid; that was in the European Super Cup a few weeks ago. This result incited some football pundits and fans to compare Jose Mourinho’s “special touch” with Rafael Benitez’s credibility as Inter Milan’s new coach.

Defensive midfielder Dejan Stankovic also gave his ideas concerning this subject as he talked to Supersport. The Serbian international explained:

“He [Jose Mourinho] is the ‘Special One’. Even when you’re dead on your feet, he can inspire you to give 130%. He could be on the bench but it felt like he was on the pitch.

“Rafael Benitez, meanwhile, is hungry for success. It’s our duty to accept his way of thinking. We’re on the right track, but just like Mourinho in Madrid, Rafa needs time me.”

Dejan Stankovic, who might not even play a part in Inter Milan’s Champions League match against FC Twente due to fitness issues, also declared:

“We are a great team, and we’re dreaming of winning the treble one more time.”

Is Dejan Stankovic dreaming too big?
