With the 2015/2016 Serie A season entering the final stretch, Juventus's and Palermo's situations could not be any more different. The Bianconeri are on the cusp of securing a fifth straight Scudetto after achieving an impressive turnaround whilst the Rosanero will be fighting tooth and nail to avoid relegation after an awful campaign that has seen nine different coaches on the tactician's bench.
Juventus
October 28th. That was the last time La Vecchia Signora lost a match in Serie A. Since then, with the exception of a scoreless draw against Bologna, Juventus have won each and every single one of their matches and have rapidly worked their way up the table to the summit. Now six points ahead of Napoli, Massimiliano Allegri's men are just six games away from clinching the league title - something that some thought impossible given their poor start to the season.
Juventus fans will be disappointed not to see their team still in the Champions League, especially given that the Bianconeri made it to last season's final. However, they will still likely win at least one trophy this term, and could potentially make it a domestic double by beating AC Milan in this term's Coppa Italia final next month.
This game should be a straightforward three points for the hosts. Juventus not only have beaten Palermo in every single one of their last seven matches, but also have yet to concede a goal. In addition, the Rosanero are winless in their past 11 games and are a side in turmoil due to the farcical merry-go-round that has seen nine different coaches in charge of the club already this season.
Allegri will be able to welcome back Paulo Dybala from injury, so the Argentinian starlet will likely feature against his former club for the first time at Juventus Stadium. The only injuries for this game will be Martin Caceres, who is out for the whole season; Giorgio Chiellini, and Roberto Pereyra will also miss out, whilst Simone Zaza is suspended.
Palermo
Palermo have really had a miserable time this season, and not entirely through any fault of the players. Any team that has to go through nine different managers is bound to struggle, and given the notorious impatience of club owner Maurizio Zamparini, it will not be surprising if he fires (and re-hires) one of these managers yet again before the end of this campaign. The Sicicilian side will arrive in Turin totally devoid of confidence, winless in their last 11 Serie A games, and having failed to score in 5 out of their past 7 matches.
They have lost all of their past seven matches against Juventus and should they score on Sunday, it will be the first time in eight meetings. Palermo have not beaten - or let alone scored against - Juventus since February 2, 2011. In fact, that was during the 2010/2011 season, and it was the last in which they defeated the Bianconeri both home and away, so their last victory in Turin took place on September 23, 2010.
For all intents and purposes, it will be a case of damage control for the visitors as they will need every single point they can get in order to avoid a drop to Serie B, but the likelihood in staging an upset in Turin appear to be slim to none.
