Here's another look at Philippe Coutinho's trending ankle injury.

Despite picking up three important points against Sunderland on Saturday, there was a somber mood at Anfield when one of Liverpool’s greatest stars this season, Philippe Coutinho, was carried off the pitch half-way into the first half. The Brazilian star collided with Black Cats midfielder Didier Ndong, and was replaced by Divock Origi, who scored a goal in the 2-0 win.

In a post-match interview, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the player had suffered an ankle injury, but there were no immediate reports suggesting how long he would be sidelined. The ex-BVB manager told reporters:

“We have to wait for the scan, what we know in this moment is it’s something with the ankle. That’s it, so we all have to wait.

‘’Pain gets better, in the first moment it was very painful, but already when I saw him at half-time he said it was much better.

“As I said, we have to wait. I’m quite an optimistic guy, so I hope he can train tomorrow!”

Coutinho’s Premier League stats this season:

  • 13 games
  • 5 goals
  • 5 assists

His absence will be a huge blow to Klopp’s league ambitions, considering the fact Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge are not fully-fit. Adam Lallana is also sidelined as the Reds prepare for a busy schedule in December.
