The Brazilian hasn't been in form as of late, but remains a crucial Liverpool member.

Liverpool have been handed a huge blow. On the same day that they are expected to face Chelsea in the English Premier League, star attacker Roberto Firmino is expected to be in court.

Although it will not likely keep the Brazilian ace from featuring for the Reds, it will be an unwanted distraction to a player who will be needed to perform at his very best. Given that Chelsea and Liverpool are first and second in the standings, it will be a crucial tie.

The reason why the Anfield ace is expected to face a judge is due to a DUI. News broke out on Boxing Day that the Brazilian was caught driving intoxicated on Christmas Eve. His day in court was thus scheduled on January 31.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said (as per Liverpool Echo): “Merseyside Police has charged a 25-year-old man with drink driving after his car was stopped in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Saturday, December 24 2016.

Luckily for Jurgen Klopp’s side, there is over a month between now and that Chelsea tie, meaning they will have sufficient time to prepare. Unfortunately, they will likely be without Sadio Mane for that tie due to the African Cup of Nations.
