  • Their last meeting saw the two sides share the points, however, with the match ending 1-1.
  • That aforementioned draw was an away game for the Blaugrana. In their last six home clashes, the Catalan giants have won six, scored 26, and conceded seven.

  • The club from Andalusia haven’t beaten the Copa del Rey champions since 2011.

Team news

Barcelona are working to return to normality after the city was hit by terrorist attacks which left 14 dead and more than 100 injured. The Blaugrana will hold a minute’s silence in tribute, and the players’ names on the jerseys will be replaced with “Barcelona”. Furthermore, the hashtag #TotsSomBarcelona will be displayed on the chest of the shirt for Sunday’s game.

A win would be a positive note for the city and club, given their 5-1 aggregate defeat to bitter rivals Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup. Unfortunately, the Copa del Rey champions have a few injury worries.

The biggest is the absence of Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan striker suffered a knee injury in the 2-0 loss at Santiago Bernabeu which will keep him sidelined for four weeks.

Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique are also tipped to miss the season opener due to thigh and muscles injuries, respectively.

Summer signing Paulinho could make his debut at Camp Nou after being brought in to help the Catalan giants’ midfield. However, the Brazilian is likely to start from the bench.

Real Betis will look to shock the Spanish giants with their new signings, as Andres Guardado, Cristian Tello, and Javi Garcia – all tipped to play on Sunday – were brought in to improve on last season’s 15th-placed finish.
