PSV travel to France to face Lille in the UEFA Europa League’s Round of 32. The Dutch side are taking the competition seriously and Coach Fred Rutten has underlined his ambitions.
PSV are not looking for a draw. Their target is to win in order to make things easy in the second leg. Both teams lead the way in their respective domestic league. Lille are 5 points clear at the top of the French Ligue 1 table after match-day 23.

PSV Eindhoven, meanwhile, are in a more delicate situation as they share 50 points like second-placed FC Twente. But tonight’s UEFA Europa League match could give more confidence to the Dutch team. Singling out the home side’s poor pitch, Coach Fred Rutten spoke about the club’s targets ahead of the game as PSV’s official website reported:

“We’ve traveled to France to score a goal and to get a good result. The state of the pitch leaves much to be desired but it’s not a big deal for us. Obviously we would have liked to play on a good pitch.

“But on the other hand, we have gained some good experience in this respect when we were in Ukraine. For me, it’s not a real issue. After all, the pitch is the same for both teams.

“We’ll send out our strongest team, as we would like to do well in the league as well as in the Europa League.

“We’ve gone through the scouting reports on our opponents and if they make any changes to their starting line-up, we’ll be prepared. We’ve made the trip to Lille to get a result and score a priceless away goal."
