The Argentine ace left his spot to Ousmané Dembelé, who is also back after spending a few weeks on the sidelines.

Lionel Messi had not been able to start a single game with Barcelona this season, and just when Los Culés believed that the Argentine had recovered from a calf injury that kept him sidelined for the first five games, the winner of the 2019 FIFA The Best award left the pitch due to a new injury.

Just to be clear, reports from Spain suggest that "La Pulga" did not have a relapse to his calf injury. Unfortunately for the Argentine, the injury he picked up today has to do with his groin.

Messi started complaining about an injury before the end of the first half. In fact, the South American ace had the team's medical staff offering him help to solve that issue. Unfortunately for his supporters, Messi stayed in the team's locker room before the start of the second half.

While it is still early to jump into conclusions, it seems that the need to have Messi around could end up being one more bad call by coach Ernesto Valverde. Even so, we wish that this is just a small scare for the Argentine footballer and not a long-term injury.
