The Catalans run away as worthy champions following Sunday's emphatic 10-1 victory.

Barcelona Femeni has entered the history books by winning the first-ever Women's Supercopa de España. Last season's league runners-up sealed the feat by securing an emphatic 10-1 win over Real Sociedad on Sunday.

The final contest inside Helmántico Stadium in Salamanca was hardly one that held promise of an end to end affair with Barcelona beginning its onslaught in the early stages. It was Marta Torrejón who drew first blood for the Catalans in the fifth minute and the 29-year-old defender will eventually finish the clash with four goals to her name, scoring her side's third, eighth and tenth goals respectively.

Two minutes after Barca's first, Alexis Putellas got on the scoresheet for the game's second and completed her brace in the 45th minute after goals from Marta Torrejón, Asisat Oshoala and Caroline Hansen had all but obliterated Sociedad. The gulf of class was stretched further with Oshoala making it 8-0 in the 51st minute before Candela Andújar grabbed the ninth goal. The latter came after Manuela Lareo Polanco had pulled one back for the team from San Sebastian.

The tag as the first club to win the inaugural Women's Supercopa de España is now owned by Barça who is currently on course to end a five-year wait for La Liga Feminina title. The Catalans sit atop the league table with a nine-point lead over closest rivals and last season's champions Atlético after 18 games. They are still unbeaten this season as they have won 16 matches and have so far drawn two.
