Liverpool took to the field on Saturday, with the Merseyside giants facing Bournemouth in their first home game of the 2023-24 Premier League season.
And while the Reds got off to the worst start, conceding twice inside the first three minutes of the game, one of which was chalked off for offside, Klopp's men fought back and entered the break with a 2-1 lead.
Luis Diaz equalized for the hosts before Mohamed Salah put them ahead through a soft penalty which Dominik Szoboszlai won. However, things took a bad turn for Liverpool shortly before the hour mark.
The Merseyside giants, who are already short on midfielders, were reduced to 10 men after Alexis Mac Allister was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Bournemouth's Ryan Christie.

The Argentine was shocked by this decision and the replays showed why. While the former Brighton ace caught his opponent with his boot, a straight sending-off appeared harsh, and fans across social media were not happy with this decision.
That is never ever a red card

Mac Allister sees red but it's a nonsense. Referee and VAR at Anfield having a poor day.

Yes, that should have never been a straight red card for Alexis Mac Allister. Awful officiating pic.twitter.com/DkGtkcRjbU

Fortunately, this did not cost Liverpool as they immediately increased their lead, with Diogo Jota getting on the scoresheet to make it 3-1. Nonetheless, this is a huge blow as the Reds could be without a crucial midfield for the upcoming fixtures.
Salah and Co. travel to Newcastle next in the Premier League before facing Aston Villa and Wolves in their first two games of September. Will Klopp's men drop further points in these upcoming games in the absence of Mac Allister?
