Life has been good to América in recent weeks, as the team has not lost since their Apertura 2023 debut against Juárez, and they get to this fixture with four wins in five games, including their last clash against Mazatlán. Even if there are reasons to trust the team, fans return to Azteca Stadium with a bit of disappointment, as one of their key members will not be available until the end of the regular season after picking up a muscular issue, which will force coach André Jardine to change his lineup for this game.

On the other side of Azteca Stadium's pitch, Santos will step into the legendary venue with a major boost to their lineup, as goalkeeper and captain Carlos Acevedo has been declared as fit to play after a four-month absence. Acevedo is seen by most as the heir to Guillermo Ochoa as the No.1 shot-stopper for Mexico, and what better way to prove that than facing América this weekend.
