Barcelona resume their UEFA Champions League campaign as the Spanish giants look to make it four wins in a row in Europe this season. Standing in their way are Shakhtar Donetsk, with the Ukrainian heavyweights aiming to keep up the pace in the race to make the round of 16.

Shakhtar are currently third in the group and while most won't bet on the Ukrainians making it to the round of 16, the Miners could turn things around with a win on Tuesday. Their most recent UEFA Champions League outing was their trip to Catalonia and given how that game ended, Marino Pušić's side will be looking for revenge.

The hosts found themselves 2-0 down after just over 30 minutes. However, Heorhiy Sudakov pulled one back for Shakhtar just after the hour mark and the Ukrainian side came close to equalizing on a few occasions.

Nonetheless, the home side are only three points behind second-placed Porto. While the Portuguese outfit will host Antwerp this midweek and are expected to beat the Belgian outfit, a slip-up from the Dragons could offer Shakhtar a lifeline in the race to make it out of the group stages.

However, this all hinges on getting a result against Xavi's men, which will be no easy feat. Barcelona have turned things around since their frustrating defeat in El Clasico and will look to string together another winning run when they head to the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.

The Blaugrana hosted bitter rivals Real Madrid just over a week ago. Despite taking an early lead against Los Blancos, Xavi's men would succumb to the unstoppable Jude Bellingham, conceding twice against the Englishman to lose 2-1.

The decisive goal came in the final minutes of stoppage time and was thus a dagger to the hearts of the Barcelona players. However, as mentioned earlier, Lewandowski and Co. have bounced back, beating Real Sociedad 1-0 over the weekend in a hard-fought victory.

Nonetheless, question marks still linger over Xavi's side and whether they can go toe-to-toe with the continental heavyweights. In their last 10 matches, Barcelona have dropped points or won by a one-goal margin in all but one match. Being clinical is an area of improvement and the Blaugrana must hope that this does not come back to bite them on Tuesday.

Preview

Shakhtar: The home side are without Stav Lemkin, Lassina Traore, and Ivan Petryak. Irakli Azarovi is also unlikely to feature, meaning Yaroslav Rakitskyi should deputize.

Barcelona: Pedri made his return in the win over Real Sociedad but will remain on the bench. Sergi Roberto and Frenkie de Jong are unavailable but Robert Lewandowski should be fine for this fixture despite an ankle issue.
