FOX Soccer to air U.S. Women's National Team Fan Tribute Tour match, live this Saturday
FOX Soccer is set to air its first match from the U.S. Women’s National Team Fan Tribute Tour, presented by Panasonic, live this Saturday at 6:30 PM ET. The match features the world’s current FIFA Women’s World Ranking No. 1 and No. 2 teams, as the U.S. Women’s National Team, helmed by Captain Christie Rampone, faces Germany from Chicago’s Toyota Park.

“As the future home of the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cups, FOX Soccer is very excited to showcase the U.S. Women’s National Team in such a great matchup here in the U.S.,” said David Nathanson, Executive Vice President and General Manager, FOX Soccer. “These two teams feature some of the best talent in the sport today, and viewers will be treated to a very entertaining game.”

Coverage of the U.S. WNT Fan Tribute Tour begins at 6:30 PM ET with host John Strong and former U.S. WNT defender Cat Whitehill breaking down all the action. Calling the match are JP Dellacamera and former U.S. WNT defender and 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup winner Kate Markgraf. Pre-match coverage also includes a feature on current U.S. WNT striker Sydney Leroux. The piece follows the Canadian-born American in the days leading up to the match with family and friends.

Fresh off a Gold Medal performance at the 2012 Olympic Summer Games in London, the U.S. WNT faces a very familiar opponent in Germany. Since 2000, the U.S. WNT has won eight of the 12 meetings between the two sides, with the most recent victory coming in May 2010 when the Americans beat the Germans 4-0 in Cleveland. This is the first time they meet in Chicago since 2001, a 4-1 win for the Americans.
