Primeira Liga - How to watch Sporting vs Benfica and all Matchday 30 games

April 15, 2022 By Oscar Rojas
We enter the final stage of games in the Portuguese league, where every slip-up could be costly in the title battle or in the race to avoid relegation.

The 2021-22 Primeira Liga season may hand us one of the most interesting weekends of the season, with Porto getting closer to the title and with a game that could be one of the most intense of the campaign.

The current league leaders will return to their home turf, where a win against Portimonense could get them even closer to the title. With the current gap between them and second-placed Sporting, we could very well be looking at the new champions next weekend.

Sporting will not go down without a fight, and the defending champions will want to keep the title battle alive when they welcome none other than Benfica, who left quite a few good sensations after their game against Liverpool. After a game to remember against the Reds, this could be one more big test for Darwin Núñez, who will also try to secure the goalscoring crown to himself this weekend.

Having discussed the top matches of the week, let's have a closer look at the general status of the competition ahead of this busy weekend.

Primeira Liga standings ahead of Matchday 28

Porto are five games way from ending the season without a loss, and their match against Portimonense could be key for their title hopes. Sporting are six behind, but their clash against Benfica may be as tricky as every fan expects it to be. Meanwhile, the Eagles have almost secured the third place woth their nine-point advantage over Braga, who also have a nine point difference over Gil Vicente, who start the weekend in fifth place.
